Kimonos are traditional Japanese clothes.
Before the Meiji period, all Japanese people wore kimonos.
Nowadays kimonos are not worn so often in everyday life.
People wear kimonos for special occasions, such as Coming-of-Age Day, wedding receptions, New Year's Day, and so on.
Even for special occasions, some people do not wear kimonos, often because it is difficult to put on a kimono without assistance.
Most young Japanese women are not able to put on a kimono by themselves. In fact, only few people can.
Some people go to a kimono school to learn this skill.
Professional kimono dressers have to pass the national exam called "Ki Tu Ke Shi"(着付師) .
We are proud to say that Kazumiart has also passed this exam.
If you would like to wear a kimono, it is best to ask a professional kimono dresser to assist you.
There are several kinds of kimonos such as tomesode, furisode, yukata and so on.
A furi-sode is a long-sleeved kimono which unmarried women wear for formal occasions.
A Tomesode is the kimono for married women.
A yukata is an informal cotton kimono worn in the summer.
All kimonos are mostly made from silk or wool.
Kimonos are quite expensive and can be a form of art.
High-end kimonos are elaborately designed with high-level artistry.

About Yukatas
Yukatas are casual kimonos worn during the summer.
Yukatas are made of cotton which is breathable, unlike a classic kimono which requires wearing a juban (kimono underwear) and tabi (Japanese socks). A yukata can be worn without these accessories, allowing it to be a comfortable summer garment.
Yukatas are popular among young women to wear to special summer events such as firework displays or bon-odori dance festivals. In recent years,
Yukatas are also being worn as bathrobes in places such as Hot Springs.
